(May – 2009) New uniforms at the Hacienda Puno.
The latest photographic session recently captured on film all the personnel who will be serving you this season. Everyone was wearing their brand new uniforms, which were designed to aid them in performing their respective jobs within the hotel, while at the same time, keep them warm and protected here in the cold part of the country.
(May - 2009)New dishes on the menu and on the buffet at the Hacienda.
After receiving suggestions from travel agents and tour operators, the Food and Beverage department of the Hacienda Hotel Puno have added new dishes to the menu for the present season. It is important to remember that the hotel’s restaurant is located on the 6th floor. Both day and night, you can enjoy the incredible view of the Lake, while at the same time, feast on a diversity of Peruvian delicacies. (April – 2009) Double Challenge for the Hacienda Puno
The Hacienda Puno will participate simultaneously in the 2009 Peru Travel Market (PTM) Fair, and the Boniotur of Cusco. The hotel will be passing out working material and net-working with important national and international travel companies. At the same time, it will be seeking comments and suggestions from travel agencies and tour operators, with the goal of permanently upgrading our services.

The gourmet kitchen at the Hacienda gives you something to talk about. In March, the chef and his staff at the Hacienda took part in a gastronomic contest, along with the other renowned restaurants and hotels of Puno. The result was 2nd Prize in the event. This demonstrates that not only do we have the best view of the Lake in the city, but also we have the best variety of gastronomic specialties in Puno.

(February – 2009) More information on the 2009 Candelaria Festival , and some previews for 2009 in Puno
As has been long awaited, Puno will celebrate the Festival of Our Virgin of the Candelaria during the month of February. Driven by the rhythm of the songs of Mama Candelaria, the children of Lake Titicaca will be once again filled with hope. “This year the state of the economy forces us to readjust our expectations”, commented Paul Palacios, commercial manager of the Hacienda Puno Hotel. “Due to the world-wide financial crisis there have been some cancelations. Nevertheless, the tourist establishments have formed some strategic alliances. Prices have been adjusted so that the impact of the crisis will be held to a minimum. Travelers are being very careful at the moment. They are choosing the hotels they trust most. Every traveler is very important to the hotel now and so we take very good care of every one. The fiesta is over, but the tourist season is just starting here, for the hotels of the city.”

The paved streets of Puno change their appearance during the fiesta of Our Virgin of the Candelaria, as they become covered by multi-colored participants. The brilliant blue of Lake Titicaca forms a magnificent backdrop. The whole city dances with fervor and energy. The city warms itself in energy and happiness.
Perhaps, if the pavement were alive and could think, it would take part in the festival with the rest of the city. It would be amazed at the troops of masked revelers, and at the 3 year old boy, who dances in honor of the Virgin, wearing a costume that weighs almost as much as he does. The festivities are close at hand, and all the city will have the chance to thank the Virgin for blessings received during the past year. Each year more tourists come for the fiesta. And the mysticism and flavor of the fiesta is passed on from generation to generation.
During the biggest days of the festival, when make-shift castles burn, the stadium fills up, and there are huge parades in the streets, it seems unjust that the fiesta should last only a few days. If the pavement were alive, I’ m sure it would decide to take its vacation on the shores of Lake Titicaca in the month of March.
